Senscina was founded in early 2005 based on the belief that there must be a common ground between the established medical community and the ever-growing field of natural and holistic remedies.

Company founder, Todd McFarland, a registered pharmacist, sought to provide the public with a novel alternative -- a line of natural products based in solid scientific research; products which members of the medical community could recommend with confidence; products which the consumer could use and rely upon with the same degree of confidence.

"During the 15 years I've spent as a retail pharmacist, I was frequently asked to recommend various natural products," says McFarland. "Like many pharmacists, I was reluctant to do so due to lack of FDA regulation on these products and the fact that much of the evidence regarding these remedies was considered anecdotal at best."

"What I found, as the years went by, was that certain natural products, with continued usage and refinement, eventually began to evolve into accepted standard remedies, both prescription and non-prescription.  It became clear to me that with my experience, a lot of research, and careful monitoring of the scientific literature being produced, I could incorporate select natural products into my practice with a great deal of confidence.  It is these products that deserve more attention by the medical community.

"Science is a dynamic art, ever expanding and changing. Over the years I've learned that many natural products are destined to become mainstays in tomorrow's science."

The goal of Senscina is to delve deeper into the science of selected natural products and find ways to deliver them to consumers in a safe and effective product.

"Why does the medical community wish to obstinately plant our feet in the present and ignore possible breakthroughs just by keeping a watchful eye on what's happening?  I believe we are doing an injustice to our patients to believe that science knows all at this point in time. We must continue to strive to expand our knowledge base and take advantage of what is provided in this incredible world."
